                                      Diptych

Two Digital Prints.
Title:- Learning from the, 'OUTSIDE-IN-INSIDE-OUT
Subtitle:-Connections.
Made for the new Alloa Campus which with its many views aesthetically brings the 'OUTSIDE-IN and gives a feeling of the 'INSIDE-OUT' allowing for a feeling of psychological freedom to learning.
Both started off as the same cut-out paper design, a cropped composition, taken from a large template of designs I made from firstly a drawing then into cut-out paper shapes which were used a patterns to draw from using pencil line and watercolour. I used these abstracted faces, which had the same starting point underpinning the idea of total equality.  The idea of their journey of change,by using Adobe Photoshop (CS4) (and my own personal layer of learning, in doing this project)  effects and Layering, with text, to underpin the idea of Students and Tutors journey of Learning absorption and layers of knowledge.  This knowledge which can be absorbed from each other, then allows for new growth and change, echoed within the abstracted faces which connect with each other, faces, text  and many 'merged down' 'layers of learning' within this, happy coloured, Digital Artwork

A mixture of experiments, sketch book, Digital techniques record and Research.

Triptych-people-Connections

 Abstract Triptych-people-Connections
An explanation of abstract representation of reality, in an abstracted form, which echoes my thinking can be found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abstract_art
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Representation_(arts)
Theme Concept:- People learn from the outside environment and in a College Campus, within an environment.  The Alloa Campus with its many views of the surrounding country side seems to bring the OUTSIDE-IN- AND THE INSIDE-OUT, GIVING THE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT AN OPEN FEELING OF FREEDOM.  This I feel would enhance learning,  allowing people to make connections, share knowledge and learn from each other, Student and Tutors.     All of this design and artwork started as the same group of paper Patterns, and the one same design crop, but like the student who gathers new experiences and so becomes a different person, he or she has equality with each other. Difference and individuality can grow and change, with new knowledge and training, allowing for new  psychological potential, and skill, echoed within the new shapes and forms within this Artwork.

I used patterns to create a template which I drew and painted within Forth Valley College.  I then (at home And at College) manipulated and experimented with the one cropped design and got many outcomes this is three which I printed at home on Polaroid Art Canvas, A4 Satin Textured Canvas Paper, HP printer, and Acer Laptop.  I added many effects, including 'cut-out' and 'ink-outlines' and using coloure curves, colour saturation, Lighten shadows, increase contrast and colour channels choice to change particular colours only and effects within Adobe Photoshop(CS4) and Elements 6.

Three canvas Prints without text created after my final 2 Large Digital Prints.

This is my Drypoint experiment.  I got to this stage and then fell Ill with the flue, I have Asthma winch is keeping me from progressing further with this drypoint print.

I created this work from my outcomes without text and printed them in A3

I may not be well enough by Tuesday to experiment with this technique, i have made the plate so  if not I will try it after xmas it is not vital to my Project just an extension to my two Digital Prints which are my Final outcome.    I electronically sent my two Digital files(large files an Hour to transfer...Learning curve) to Bob my Framer who has printed them on Luster Paper .They will be mounted and Framed by www.first4frames.com
I found the work interesting but very hard on my arm.  This type of work is created by scratching into a surface like Perspex. This is a very good material to get the feel of Plate Printing as no acid baths are needed such as in Copper Plate.  It is also reasonably priced and available in Homebase greenhouse suppliers.
